Crazy Car Collection

One can go flat out without breaking the speed limit, one is the world's smallest and another gives a new meaning to the term fast food.

And they could all be yours when they go under the hammer next month – if you have £40,000 to spare.

Perry Watkins created the collection to break various world records but now the 50-year-old wants to clear some garage space so he can start work on his next crazy creation.

Tim Schofield of auctioneers Bonhams said: 'The vast majority of people would be hard-pushed to come up with an idea for these kind of things.

'It just shows what a wonderful and playful imagination Perry has, in inventing the weird and the wonderful.' The Flatmobile measures just 50cm (19in) high and became the world's lowest vehicle in 2008.

Mr Watkins, of Wingrave, Buckinghamshire, modelled it on the Batmobile from the 1960s TV series with missile tips by the numberplates and a bullet-shaped rear-view mirror.

The world's smallest licensed car measures 1.3m (51in) long and uses the body of a child's Postman Pat coin- operated static ride.

He then added wheels and an engine to a Queen Anne dining table – complete with silver service – which reached 130mph. It comfortably set the record for the quickest piece of furniture – beating a sofa that hit 92mph in 2007.
