Hyundai Veloster

3 DOORS. 2 SPEEDS.1 UNIQUE LOOK.

Meet the Hyundai Veloster: twice the car you’re used to. The style of a coupĂ©, the functionality of a hatchback: pleasure redefined.

1+2 DOOR CONCEPT
The perfect blend of individuality and practicality, the Veloster's stylish asymetrical design, with its 1+2 door concept makes a statement about you.

TWO INFLUENCES.
ONE CAR.
Combine the style of a coupĂ© with the functionality of a hatchback and you have a new concept in vehicle design. The Veloster is that concept made real. A crossover utility vehicle with a unique, innovative form. It’s where dynamism meets practicality.

Veloster's robust bumper sports low set fog lamps that flow with the lines of the vehicle and give you maximum vision, even in adverse conditions. (optional)

Hexagonal front grill
Bold and dynamic, the distinctive hexagonal-shaped radiator grille lets the world know that you've arrived!

Projection headlamps
Bright, accurately focussed headlamps, with optional Auto Light Control, which automatically turn on the headlamps when the outside light level is low, for example at night or in tunnels. (optional)

Daytime running lights (LED)
A cluster of 8 LEDs in each headlamp ensure you are clearly visible come rain or shine, during the day as well as night!

Conventional headlamps
Futuristically styled and perfectly integrated into the Veloster's bodywork, the headlamp clusters combine raw energy with high-tech illumination for maximum safety as well as great looks.

Side design
Impressive wheel arches. The forceful, muscular lines of the flared wheel arches extend the Veloster's sporting appearance around the wheel area and enhance the overall style.

Cleverly integrated into the bodywork, the flush rear door handle simply blends in to the Veloster's smooth lines to maintain the sleek design.

Tinted glass with shade band & tinted rear glass

Power window controls
Power windows feature a single touch auto-up function for convenient closing together with a lock-out switch for added safety.

Safety power window
For complete safety and to protect foreign objects or tiny fingers from getting trapped, the safety power window automatically senses obstructions when closing the window, automatically moving it down again to prevent damage. (optional)

See, be seen, be safe! Veloster's stylish exterior mirrors don't just help you see what's going on around you, the LED repeaters ensure other drivers know where you are going, too. Plus, they're electrically heated for rapid de-mistin so you can be sure of optimum visibility in all conditions.

Exterior mirror folding function
Exterior mirrors fold in at the press of a button for added convenicence in confined parking spaces, giving you the extra room you need. Optional feature.

Rear combination lamps
Rounding off the Veloster's curvaceous styling, the rear lamp cluster integrates design flair combined with LED technology perfectly into the bodywork.

Rear bumper with reflectors
Sculpted to enhance the Veloster's aesthetic lines, the rear bumper is a smooth continuation of the body shell, and features rear reflectors to help make sure you're seen.

Rear spoiler and wiper blade
Completing its refined aerodynamic profile, the rear spoiler improves fuel efficiency and driving stability at high speed while below it, the wiper ensures clear rear vision at all times.

Centre fascia
Continuing the dynamic design, the centre fascia perfectly combines functionality with the streamlined aesthetics of a motorbike fuel tank.

Seat design
Seat warmers. Drive in warmth from the off, even in wintry conditions, with driver and passenger side seat warmers for complete comfort. (optional)

4-way power seat
Find the perfect seating position with the power seat function. Adjust the cushion height as well backward and forward motion at the touch of a button. (optional)

BMW Zagato Coupe

BMW and Italian design house Zagato have teamed up to produce a one-off show car - the BMW Zagato Coupe.

Revealed at the Villa d'Este Concours on the banks of Lake Como, Italy, the Z4 Roadster-based model is the latest in a series of high-profile projects from Zagato, which include the £400,000 Aston Martin V12 Zagato revealed earlier this year.

The swooping bodywork is handrolled from aluminium sheet and cleverly blends the two company's design philosophies. The interior is largely carried over from the Z4, while the twin kidney grille at the front (which uses hundreds of small 'Zs' locked together to create a mesh effect) is unmistakeably BMW. The double-bubble roof, powerful haunches and aerodynamic Kamm-tail rear-end are classic Zagato cues.

Although strictly a one-off, the BMW Zagato Coupe is fully road legal and registered in Germany - it's even undergone high-speed testing. It adheres to all crash regulations and the aerodynamics have been optimed for stability at high speeds.

As for power output, BMW is staying tight-lipped about what's under bonnet, but the 335bhp turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six from the Z4 sDrive35is seems likely.

Audi E-Tron Spyder

The e-tron Spyder is a glimpse into Audi’s future – we already know the firm is planning a mid-engined sports car to sit below the R8, and this concept gives us the best idea of how it will look. We got an insight into how it might handle, too, as we took the wheel for an exclusive drive.

The car was first displayed at last year’s Paris Motor Show, and its wheelbase is a full 220mm shorter than the R8’s. It’s only 4.06 metres long and 1.11 metres high, but a purposeful-looking 1.81 metres wide. Audi has clearly gone to a lot of trouble to make the e-tron Spyder stand out, and it’s one of the best-looking sports cars we’ve seen; the wheels for example are each made from 66 individual parts.

Climb aboard and the cabin design is simpler, but just as stylish. There’s a set of one-piece carbon fibre seats, complete with electronic adjustment, and they’re very comfortable. Hi-tech touches include ventilation controls that blend seamlessly into the dash and can be opened or closed at the swipe of a finger.

Driving the rear wheels is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine, while a pair of plug-in electric motors turn the front wheels individually. Together, they produce a total of 383bhp and a huge 1,002Nm of torque.

Not only does that mean the Spyder is capable of sprinting from 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds, but it can also run on electric power alone for around 30 miles. On our first run we were limited to the electric-only mode, and as we pulled away, the e-tron whined and hummed. But there’s a slight disappointment as you realise the car isn’t quite as quick as its looks suggest, too.

That changed when the diesel was fired into life for our second run. The twin-turbo V6 hurled the e-tron forward and, because it uses a CVT gearbox, engineers have done without the artificial gear ‘steps’ of a production car. It just revs up to the point where the most torque is and stays there while the car picks up speed.

Honda Civic Type R with TURBO 2013

The next Honda Civic Type R will not only be the fastest version yet – it’s tipped to be Honda’s first-ever turbo road car. And our sources in Japan say tuning expert Mugen is already well underway with development.

The Type R has already achieved cult status in the UK – Europe’s biggest hot hatch market – thanks to its combination of a high-revving naturally aspirated engine and aggressive styling. But in order to meet emissions regulations, this latest model will tweak the formula slightly.

Instead of the previous 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, it will use a 2.0-litre turbo designed to comply with Euro V emissions regulations. A similar engine will feature in Honda’s 2012 British Touring Car Championship challenger.

Adding a turbo will give more torque lower in the rev range, so a higher gear can be used more often to boost efficiency. Stop-start is also likely to be fitted.

Honda will increase the Type R’s output – but not by much. A figure of 210bhp would allow a 0-62mph time of less than 6.5 seconds and a top speed approaching 150mph.

Based on the new Civic seen at last month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the Type R gets the standard car’s front grille, slim headlights and LED daytime running lights, although most of the bodywork will be uprated.

A front end with large mesh air intakes, a lower chin spoiler and chunky side skirts will boost the visual impact, while a rear diffuser and extended spoiler  aim to increase stability at high speeds. Also helping the car’s balance in corners is the standard Civic’s longer, wider chassis; this should also improve ride comfort and grip.
